Hi. I’m Adam. And this is my friend Chase. I’m an Independent who supports Barack Obama for President. Chase is an Independent who has long supported Mitt Romney for President of the United States since 2007.
Today, the two of us decided to attend the Mitt Romney rally at Landmark Aviation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We parked in a lot 4 miles away from the event site where all those attending were then shuttled to the actual site. Upon arriving to the site, we got in a line and were greeted with friendly smiles… We then had our tickets swiped, went through security, and then both went to the restrooms before heading in to the building to stand and await the speech. I was the first to exit the restroom and stood to wait for Chase. As soon as he exited we began to head to the plane hangar where the event was taking place.
Two officers and one suited man (secret service) then approached us and said with a smile, “You need to leave.” My first thought was that we were getting in the way of an important Congressman coming through, or even the candidate himself… so we walked a bit to the side. He then repeated that we needed to head to the exit and leave. They began to grow tighter around us. I said, “Excuse me?” He repeated again, “You need to leave.” Chase than said, “I’m confused, I’m a supporter of Mitt Romney… we have tickets?” … Another officer chimed in, “You need to leave.” I then asked, “Why?” … “What is the reason?” The officer then said, “You either need to leave now or we will be forced to arrest you.” … “BUT WHY?” … “Head to the front now.”…No one else was asked to leave. Just us.
We left. Got back on a bus alone. And drove back to Iowa City. I’m in a state of utter confusion. I’ve been to so many Republican rallies in the last 5 years. I’ve always been courteous. I’ve never heckled. Besides some speeding tickets, I’m a law abiding citizen. I’ve greeted Mitt Romney in Muscatine, Iowa and had my picture taken with him as well as with Santorum, Perry, Bachmann, Ron Paul, John McCain, etc. I attended a Santorum rally in which anyone could ask a question… I did… it had to do with gay marriage… he answered it live on CNN. I met him afterwards where he instantly recognized who I was and thanked me for coming to the event.
Mr. Romney- I may not support you… but my friend HAS and DID for the last 5 years… yet, we weren’t allowed to attend? Why? Answer me that. WHY? Was it because we are gay or looked too flamboyant for your rally? What is it? Its not a surprise to me that you would treat someone this way… but it certainly came as a surprise to one of your ardent supporters. He now sees who you truly are. The guy who likes to take away rights and silence minorities.
I’m baffled. I’m embarrassed. I’m sad.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Please SHARE this. This may be minuscule to you… but it shows a story to a bigger picture of who this man really is.
I just want to know WHY?
This is a story from one of my personal friends on facebook. I felt that Tumblr is the place where this story really could be spread so people know the truth about the Romney campaign.
Please, please reblog this and let my friend Adam’s story be heard.
That creepy moment when you find out Ol’ Frothy’s handlers are apparently more civil than Mitt Romney’s handlers.
Mitt Romney owes both of these men a personal apology (best delivered at least by phone).
God help us.
They can’t win. They cannot win. Everything we’ve worked for, I’ve worked for, nearly my entire life will be dismissed, invalidated, made illegal or otherwise destroyed—families, marriages, relationships, employment. Romney and Ryan are for the dehumanization of women, the poor, and gays. Romney and Ryan are for hate crimes removing the “problem” of gays. Romney and Ryan are for arresting people who simply disagree with them.
They want a police state with the rich utterly supported and the poor crushed under their heels. They want to throw the country back to where problems were solved by execution, not discussion.
They cannot win. We’re doomed if they do.
So frightening what the future looks like for all of us, if these two giant bags of dicks get elected. I am going to cry.
Reblogging for any and all followers eligible to vote in US elections. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF HUMAN DECENCY DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN.
Any idiot left parroting how “Romney and Obama are really the same!” and/or is stealing media attention for being “undecided” needs to STFU and just not vote at this point. This shit is too important. No matter what you may think of Obama, he’s done more for the Queer community than any other president, and NO, it’s NOT just a “sign of the times”.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE QUEER COMMUNITY, GET YOUR ASS OUT AND VOTE! IF YOU’RE TOO YOUNG TO VOTE, CAMPAIGN!
“These two photos…were a couple of my favourites, for their intimacy and for their use of the photobooth, the only place really where photos like this could be both taken and developed safely in the 1950s.”
I wonder what became of these two. I hope they managed to stay together. ♥
WHEN: October 12th (TODAY!) 12:00am until 11:55pm
WHY: “In the fourteen years that have passed since Matthew Shepard’s murder, we like to think we’ve come a long way. And we have! But there are too many that want to turn back the progress we’ve made and that refuse to see the results of anti-gay policies and bigotry, like Matthew Shepard’s murder.”
HOW: “In honor of the anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, murdered for for the crime of being gay, we must bring to the attention of anti-gay factions the consequences of their bigotry.

Michele Bachmann’s page
Rick Santorum’s page
and post this picture on their walls.
End the hatred and bigotry!”
From Enough Is Enough: the blog page:
”On the morning of October 7, 1998, 14 years ago today, one of the worst gay hate crimes that took place. Matthew Shepard’s story is still remembered today and continues to inspire many people.
This part of Matthew’s story is just so saddening to me..
(And though his face was caked in blood, his face was clean where streaks of tears had washed the blood away. ‘The only white skin I saw (on his face) was where he had been crying.’)
Shortly after midnight on October 6, 1998, Shepard met Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson for the first time at the Fireside Lounge in Laramie, Wyoming. It was decided that McKinney and Henderson would give Shepard a ride home. McKinney and Henderson subsequently drove the car to a remote, rural area and proceeded to rob, pistol-whip, and torture Shepard, tying him to a fence and leaving him to die. According to their court testimony, McKinney and Henderson also discovered his address and intended to steal from his home. Still tied to the fence, Shepard, who was still alive but in a coma, was discovered 18 hours later by Aaron Kreifels, a cyclist who initially mistook Shepard for a scarecrow.
Shepard had suffered fractures to the back of his head and in front of his right ear. He experienced severe brainstem damage, which affected his body’s ability to regulate heart rate, body temperature, and other vital functions. There also were about a dozen small lacerations around his head, face, and neck. His injuries were deemed too severe for doctors to operate. Shepard never regained consciousness and remained on full life support. While he lay in intensive care, candlelight vigils were held by the people of Laramie.
Shepard was pronounced dead at 12:53 a.m. on October 12, 1998, at Poudre Valley Hospital, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was 21 years old.”
